LIVE ARTS with Savona now produces podcasts and live events.  And the team is very excited about this development.  Our studio is in the Bronx at Hostos Community College. Three student engineers are working with me to develop in studio and field audio production.  Worked to get on iTunes and our first episode features the Gees Bend Quilting Collective.

Our team will also produce live talks during The Photography Show presented AIPAD as well as Collective Design in May.

Digital Programs at Hostos

The Digital programs at Hostos provide an extraordinary opportunity for students with artistic talent and/or an interest in modern media to explore a diverse selection of courses in graphic design, animation, audio recording, motion graphics, web design, video production, and photography.

Here at Hostos students learn to appreciate art and design while developing software skills and work that they can be proud of. Ours is a portfolio driven program where presentation and critique of a students’ collected work takes place from the second term forward. This process allows students to hone their communication and presentation skills so that they become more professional, more hirable, and more self-confident.With a focus on technical and production-based learning, the program hones students’ aesthetic awareness while developing their technical, communication and collaborative skills. Students will not only learn particular software packages, they will be immersed in design and media in terms of their history, sociological ramifications, and various production techniques.

A.A.S. Degrees in Digital Music (DM)

The Associate in Applied Science degree in Digital Music provides Eugenio María de Hostos Community College’s student population with a course of study that will prepare them for music careers in business and industry in titles such as: sound engineering technician; audio equipment technician; recording engineer; sound mixer or re-recording mixer; and sound designer. The program provides Hostos graduates with additional career opportunities in a wide variety of businesses involved in: radio broadcasting; concert production; theatre production; musical recording; sound track and sound effect production for television, film, and video as well as sports events, conventions, presentations, and news conferences. In addition, sound technicians are employed in other industries, producing employee communications, sales, and training programs.
